XPENG Hong Kong’s sole distributor, Sime Darby Motor Group, held a celebration event in Yuen Long today to mark the brand’s first anniversary in the Hong Kong market. The event, attended by numerous XPENG owners, successfully set a world record for the “Most Electric SUVs Performing Remote Parking Simultaneously.” The event perfectly showcased XPENG’s cutting-edge intelligent technology, demonstrating how technology is transforming human mobility.

As the first car brand in Hong Kong approved by the Transport Department to introduce new technology, XPENG has provided free Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for all its Hong Kong models, including the MPV X9 and SUV G6. These updates also enable streaming media playback on the front central touchscreen. Starting May 28, XPENG will roll out these OTA updates to all existing customers. During today’s “XPENG Hong Kong 1st Anniversary” event, Mr. Jerry Tam, General Manager of XPENG Hong Kong and Macau, and Mr. Clayton Chan, Brand Manager of Sime Darby Peng Yue Motors (Hong Kong) Limited, joined 42 XPENG SUV G6 owners to perform remote parking operations. Under the supervision of an official from the World Record Certification Agency, they successfully set a world record for the “Most Electric SUVs Performing Remote Parking Simultaneously,” surpassing the initial target of 30 vehicles with a total of 38 electric SUVs!

The remote parking and summon function allows owners to control the vehicle via the XPENG mobile app to automatically park or exit a parking space while outside the vehicle, provided the vehicle is in parking mode with all doors, trunk, and hood closed. The function enables the vehicle to move forward or backward, relying on environmental cameras and ultrasonic sensors to detect surroundings. Note that the auto-parking function requires the driver to first maneuver the vehicle to a detected available parking space before activation. Per Transport Department regulations, the driver must remain within 6 meters of the vehicle, the vehicle must not travel more than 12 meters, and the speed must not exceed 2 km/h.
